Gutierrez Plays Down Injury Scare
Jonas Gutierrez sat out Argentina's latest training session suffering from "muscle discomfort". Gutierrez was out last season with hamstring and thigh problems during Newcastle’s promotion. Argentina have no more fixtures scheduled until their opening game of the World Cup in Johannesburg against Nigeria in 16 days’ time. Jonas Gutierrez: “It is important to train hard now, but also to enjoy moments to be with the family before going to South Africa in 100% shape. “I am still on a par in terms of fitness with everybody else. “The strategy is decided by the manager, but I feel very comfortable wherever he puts me. “I will play anywhere in the side for him. “All the players are looking forward to the competition, especially those who will be at their first World Cup. “The goal is to come out of it as champions. “It would be great to give some joy to all the Argentinean people.”
