Gutierrez eyes double swoop

Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez feels that promotion from the Championship is as important as qualifying for next summer's World Cup with Argentina. The claims may not go down too well with Argentina boss Diego Maradona who knows his side must beat Peru and Uruguay to stand any chance of going to South Africa, and even that may only guarantee them a playoff place. Despite the enormity of the final two qualifying games the winger insists getting back into the Premier League at the first time of asking with Newcastle is just as important. The 27-year-old is expected to return to first-team action on Wednesday against QPR after nearly a month out with a hamstring injury and join up with his national team-mates on Sunday. "I really believe Argentina will qualify," he told the Daily Star. "The World Cup and promotion are so big for me. They are at the same level and I want them both so badly. "Playing at the World Cup has always been my dream but next summer I want to be looking forward to games against Manchester United and Liverpool again as well." The former Mallorca man may be confident that Argentina will qualify for the World Cup but he knows from personal experience that no team is too big to fail. "For me, it is impossible that Argentina are not at the World Cup but everyone said the same about Newcastle and relegation," he added. "I know from bitter experience what can happen."
