Guthrie - Toon spirits high
// A bit of a hack but it works// The article snippet is wrapped onto a second line, even when #article-sub is emptyif( $("div#article-sub").children().length == 0 ) {$("div#article-sub").remove();} Danny Guthrie has admitted Newcastle's impressive start to the season has helped the squad forget the continued off-field saga at St James' Park.[LNB] The Magpies have made an impressive start to life in the Championship and currently sit top of the pile after four victories and a draw from their opening five games.[LNB]Owner Mike Ashley continues to search for a buyer for the North East outfit, with Chris Hughton remaining in caretaker charge until the point any new owners - should they materialise - take control.[LNB]Former Liverpool midfielder Guthrie claims the atmosphere in the Toon dressing room is now the best it has ever been in his time at the club, and he puts that down to their results on the field.[LNB]He told the Daily Express: It seems a funny thing given everything that has happened but this is probably the happiest I've been at Newcastle United. It's always a happy place when a team is winning and that is what we're doing at the moment.[LNB]"I know things have not been ideal, but the dressing room has a completely different atmosphere to last year. We've all pulled together and it's a good place to be.[LNB]Strength"From day one the players have said we can't do anything about what is happening upstairs in the boardroom. We have pulled close together as a group and that has shown on the pitch.[LNB]"We have found strength in adversity as a club and the fans have been brilliant. They have made it really tough for sides to come up here and they have turned up in their thousands. It's definitely had a big impact on the players."[LNB]With Danny Simpson the only new face at St James' Park amid a host of departures, Guthrie has admitted that Magpies' squad looks short of numbers.[LNB]Peter Lovenkrands is also back on the Newcastle books after initially being released at the end of last season, while the club will be able to bring in further players on loan from next week.[LNB]Guthrie added: "The biggest worries we have are injuries and suspensions. The squad is too thin and it doesn't look like we are going to get too many bodies in. [LNB]"We need some good luck with injuries and we should just about be OK."[LNB]
