Middlesbrough dominated midfield during the second-half of the Tees/Tyne derby, but Danny Guthrie still believes he has a future in the Toon engine room. MIDDLESBROUGH 2 NEWCASTLE 2 (Lovenkrands, Carroll)Harper, Kadar, Hall, Coloccini (Ryan Taylor 50), Simpson, Gutierrez, Nolan, Guthrie, Pancrate (Best 78), Lovenkrands (Butt 70), Carroll. Subs Not Used: Krul, Jose Enrique, Routledge, Ranger. Without Alan Smith in the centre, a lot of pressure was put on the former Liverpool player, and Chris Hughton drafted in Nicky Butt for the last 20 minutes because Boro had a grip on the game. So what about Guthrie? Is he good enough there? Guthrie: "It’s where I want to play, and it’s where I play my best stuff, so long may it continue. “When I play there I keep the team ticking, and get on the ball and pass. “The assists have built up, and hopefully I can add a few more goals, I enjoy playing there. “Alan’s done a terrific job when he’s played there, and we’re two different players. “Sometimes we need his style of play there, and I just give the manager a different option.”
