Gosling hopeful of Magpies bow

Newcastle midfielder Dan Gosling is hoping for a chance to make his senior debut in Sunday's Wear-Tyne derby after finally pulling on a black and white shirt. The 20-year-old, a summer arrival from Everton, got 70 minutes under his belt in a behind-closed-doors friendly clash with Hibernian after recovering from a long-term knee injury. Manager Alan Pardew is already without suspended enforcer Cheik Tiote and has a series of other injury doubts, and Gosling is keeping his fingers crossed for the weekend. Speaking after the 3-3 draw, he told the club's official website, www.nufc.co.uk: "I will look out for the numbers on Sunday and see what the gaffer decides to do. "But I'm not getting carried away, I'll just take it as it comes. "We have another reserve game against Wigan on Monday, so I'm sure I will play some part in that, and I will look forward to that one as well."
