The African Nations Cup, which has robbed Newcastle of several players in recent years (Geremi, Martins, Faye, Bassong, etc), will be played in odd years from 2013. The decision was confirmed as the Confederation of African Football executive committee met in Cairo on Saturday. It means there will now be tournaments in back-to-back years in 2012 and 2013. Libya, originally due to host the 2014 tournament, will stage the 2013 edition. Egypt won the trophy earlier this year, adding to their triumphs in 2008 and 2006.
