Gomis Blames Kinnear For Blowing Deal!

Bafetimbi Gomis has confirmed that his move to Newcastle United collapsed after Joe Kinnear asked him to amend his wage demands.

The French international shunned numerous moves over the summer from around Europe, including Swansea and Newcastle.

Gomis has just a year left on his current deal with the French giants - who have been trying to off-load him for more than a year.

But the 28-year-old is resolute that he will not be forced out of the club, and now a free transfer next summer looks increasingly likely.

Late in the window a move to Newcastle had looked set to go through, after he agreed a deal with Alan Pardew.

But he admits that it was when Joe Kinnear got involved, and he was asked to take a drop in wages, that he pulled out of the deal.

Bafetimbi Gomis: "I had a talk with Newcastle's coach and we found an agreement.

"Then, there were talks with Lyon, there was a first offer - which was refused and then a second one, which was accepted.

"Newcastle then came back to me and asked me to make an effort on wages - but I never asked anything as it was my club which wanted to transfer me, so the effort had to be made by Newcastle or Lyon.

"Now I think after what has been said and done, it is not conceivable to talk about any prolongation."
