With money tight, and Mike Ashley keeping his dosh in his arse pocket, there will be limited funds available.
We need a central defender, full-back, defensive midfielder, creative midfielder and at least one class striker.
The one position we have cover for is goalkeeper!
However, PSV Eindhoven have turned down a £1.7m bid from Newcastle for goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet.
The report on TalkSPORT today said: "New director of football Joe Kinnear has overseen the acquisition of just one player, 16-year-old Frenchman Olivier Kemen, but he is keen to secure solid back-up for Tim Krul after the retirement of Steve Harper earlier this summer.
"And according to sources in Holland, Newcastle have made an offer for Krul's compatriot Zoet - although PSV rejected their bid out of hand."
The 22-year-old is expected to open talks with over a new deal with PSV soon.
