Arsenal were close to completing a £10million deal for Lille attacker Gervinho ... a target of Alan Pardew ... but Spurs have upped the bid to £10.6m. The Ivory Coast international scored 14 goals last season as he helped Lille win the title but has now declared that he is ready to make the move to the Premier League.  The versatile attacker can play anywhere across the front line and can also be deployed as an marauding midfielder. The 24-year0old had been attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle but according to a report on Talksport.co.uk the Ivory Coast star had chosen to join Arsenal. But Harry Redknapp is trying to steal a march on other potential bidders by offering £10.6 million for the Ivory Coast forward. “We received an offer of €12m (£10.6m) from Tottenham which was refused,” Lille general manager Frederic Paquet said in an article in The Daily Mail. Tottenham and Arsenal appear to be in a straight tussle for the player.
