Gazza To Be Locked Up For Christmas?

Former Newcastle midfielder Paul Gascoigne's court case in Newcastle was adjourned until December 9 ... but that could see him locked up for Christmas. Gazza was caught driving an MG car erratically by police in Jesmond, Newcastle, on October 8 at 2.45pm. A separate drink-drive charge, which Gascoigne denies, will be heard at a later date at Northallerton Magistrates’ Court. He admitted drink-driving, while more than four times the legal limit. Gascoigne did not attend this morning's proceedings after it emerged in court that he had voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation centre at an unnamed residence in the south coast. After hearing the midfielder was found to have 142mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the limit is 35mg - District Judge Stephen Earl warned Gascoigne all options 'up to and including a custodial sentence' were open. A sentence of 12 weeks could be appropriate, the judge said at the last hearing, before adjourning the case for probation service reports.
