Harry Redknapp has moved to snap up the experienced centre half on a short term deal to hopefully win a more permanent contract in January.
Onyewu is no stranger to English football having been on loan at Newcastle in 2007 from Standard Liege.
He has been training with QPR since leaving Sporting Lisbon last season and the American International has played for some of the most recognised sides in Europe like Milan, Liege and Malaga.
