Former Toon Defender Dumped By Burnley?

I'm sorry to be blunt ... but it has to be said ... former Newcastle defender Steven Caldwell was always way out of his depth in the Premiership. Now the Burnley captain Steven Caldwell admits he is likely to be leaving the relegated Barclays Premier League club this summer. The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and manager Brian Laws is in no rush to offer him a new deal. Steven Caldwell: "I am open to discussion. "I like being where people want me - I'm not saying the manager doesn't, I just don't know. I haven't had any discussions. "I'm willing to speak to anyone at any time, but obviously I have had no discussions so far so it seems I will probably be leaving. "It's one of these things. Sometimes things change in football, people move on, clubs change. It is nobody's fault, it is a way of life." Caldwell joined Burnley, then managed by Steve Cotterill, from Sunderland in a £200,000 deal in January 2007.
