FIFA Insist Carroll Cannot Play For Newcastle!

Liverpool have been dealt a potential transfer blow in their pursuit of Demba Ba.

According to The Daily Star Sunday - Liverpool are hoping for a swap-deal involving striker Andy Carroll - but it is unlikely to happen because of FIFA regulations.

FIFA rules state that whilst a player can sign for three clubs between July 1st and June 30th in any given year, he is only eligible to play official matches for two of those clubs.

And, after playing for both Liverpool and West Ham United in competitive matches this season, a move back to Tyneside would appear to be impossible.

The player has a minimum fee release clause of £7.5 million to activate the much-publicised clause.

Suggesting Carroll will not be heading to Newcastle, until the summer at least.
