Failure to go up not an option for Jose

NEWCASTLE UNITED defender Jose Enrique has warned his team-mates that it would be a disaster if the Magpies failed to convert their top of the table position into promotion come May.[LNB] The Spanish full-back has been a revelation in the Championship this season after disappointing in his first two seasons on Tyneside.[LNB] He has been one of the reasons behind Newcastle's impressive start to the campaign, and he is determined they maintain their place in the top two through to the end of the season.[LNB] It would be a disaster for us not to get into the Premier League now from the position we are in, said Enrique, who earlier this week reaffirmed his commitment to Newcastle despite apparent interest from rivals Sunderland in the 23-year-old.[LNB] We are playing well so I would not be able to understand how we wouldn't have got into the Premier League from this position.[LNB] It's good we are up there.[LNB] Everyone wants us to win the league and it is good we're in this position, but the most important thing is to finish in the top two and get back up.[LNB] After last season's relegation the players held clearthe- air talks that have enabled the current squad to bond.[LNB] The team spirit has been a key factor in the success of the current campaign, and the former Villarreal player feels right at home both in the region and at the club.[LNB] The team is doing well in the table and getting wins so the atmosphere is great.[LNB] Everyone feels like they are together. You can see that on the pitch and in games, said the £6.5m signing.[LNB] It is important to have that good spirit. When I was at Villareal, it was the same thing and we qualified for the UEFA Cup. It is the one thing that has been the same in all the teams that I have played in that have done well team spirit.[LNB] I think this season the team spirit is much better than last year. I don't know why, but it definitely is. We have seen that in the games and in the way the team is doing so well.[LNB] The players do mix off the pitch now. It's important.[LNB] A month ago we all went out and had dinner together, which is the first time since I have been at Newcastle that has happened. I played at Newcastle for three years and had never done that before.[LNB] Everyone is together now, when there are mistakes made by people everyone just says Don't worry, we will get over it'. Team spirit is very important and it's good.[LNB] Newcastle United's youth team needed extra-time to force their way into the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup as goals from Brad Inman and a Greg Mc- Dermott brace proved the difference between the Magpies and Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium.[LNB] It took only 30 seconds of the additional period for Australian-born Inman to find the elusive breakthrough, stealing in behind Rovers' high defensive line before controlling and poking underneath the on-rushing keeper with one swift, classy movement.[LNB] The scorer then turned provider for midfield accomplice McDermott to double the advantage as he charged onto his team-mate's neat pullback before scoring from the edge of the penalty area on 103 minutes.[LNB] And McDermott added a third in front of watching first-team boss Chris Hughton as he stabbed home from close range at the death.[LNB] Newcastle U-18s: Alnwick, Nzuzi, J Henderson (L Henderson, 106) Folan, Dummett, Adjei, Inman, Mogwo (McDermott, 29), Newton, Tavernier, Williams (McGorrigan, 56). Subs (not used): Ben Robinson, Ryan Page.[LNB]
