Ex-Toon Coach Heads To Old Trafford

Former Newcastle United assistant manager Steve Round today joined David Moyes at Manchester United.

The 42-year-old, who was Moyes’ assistant at Everton, joined his old boss at Old Trafford today, along with goalkeepeing coach Chris Woods and coach Jimmy Lumsden.

The trio replace Mike Phelan, Rene Meulensteen and Eric Steele, who have all been released following Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to retire in May.

Round has worked alongside Moyes since 2008. He had a year at Newcastle after being Sam Allardyce’s first coaching appointment in 2007.

He lasted longer than Allardyce, who was sacked after six months, before Round joined Moyes at Goodison before the start of the next season.
