EXCLUSIVE: Wise set to be fired as new Toon boss Shearer sets about dismantling Newcastle's Cockney

Dennis Wise looks set to become the first casualty of Alan Shearer's Newcastle revolution after the St James' Park executive director (football) was kept completely in the dark over the stunning developments on Tyneside. Shearer will today be formally be confirmed as the new Magpies manager for the remaining eight games of the Barclays Premier League season, but the former England striker's bid to beat the drop will not involve the club's director of football. Wise was today travelling north from his London base for showdown talks with Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. Sportsmail understands that Wise, who was kept out of the loop about Shearer's appointment, will be told his services are no longer required but a decision to sack him will leave Ashley with a problem. Not only would under-pressure Ashley have to find a six-figure compensation fee with which to pay off Wise, it is also thought that the Newcastle owner will rely on Wise's testimony should former manager Kevin Keegan brings his own case for compensation to the courts in the coming months. Shearer - who will tomorrow begin preparations for the first match of his eight-game reign at home to Chelsea on Saturday - has already made it clear to Ashley that if he is to save Newcastle from relegation then he must be allowed to do it his way. And there is no place in Shearer's plans for his former England team-mate. Shearer, 38, has already been given the go ahead to bring in former QPR, Coventry, Charlton and Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowey as part of his coaching team. Former Newcastle physio Paul Ferris will also join Shearer's backroom staff.
