Evra Fears A Toon Repeat!

06 October 2012 13:11
Man United have another bad performance to airbrush from the memory this Sunday at St James' Park. And Patrice Evra says it is a MASSIVE fixture at St James' Park.

The Red Devils were thrashed at the St James' Park 3-0 by Alan Pardew’s side in January.

Patrice Evra: “The result against Cluj is a confidence booster ahead of Sunday. Last season up there was a disaster.

“We played very badly. This year is going to be very important because we have already lost against Tottenham and we have to react. We have to have a big reaction against Newcastle.

“We had a meeting after that game at Newcastle last season and we talked with each other because it was not the way we respect the shirt of United. After that I remember we just kept winning games.

“We don’t want another wake up call at Newcastle again. We know what happened last year. We know the experience up there and we have to be ready from the first minute of the game.

“It won’t be an easy game. We have to score first and make sure we control the game.

“Ba and Cisse are very good players. Demba Ba scored a very good goal against us last January. We have to be strong in defence.

“Both of their strikers have proved they can score goals. That is a problem. But we have to be strong and defend well and make sure we keep a clean sheet.

“We have to make sure we don’t let them play because those two can score any time and any way. That is why I say it is going to be a tough game.

“I think if we defend well then we can win because I think we will create a lot of chances.

“People criticise really easily. Wayne Rooney is working very hard and he is showing that he loves the club. He is showing that he is prepared to fight.

“Like everyone at the club you have to fight to play every game. When a new player comes the players who were already at the club have to show they will never die. That’s what Wazza is doing.

“People mustn’t forget what Wayne Rooney has done for this club.

“He showed that when he came on against Tottenham and he showed that against Cluj.

“I know the two - Van Persie and Rooney - can play together but I am not the boss. I am just really happy they are playing well.

“We have to make sure that at Newcastle on Sunday we don’t go behind. We have to make sure we score first and then control the game.

“We always play with the pressure now of what happened last year and that is why every game we play now we have to win and be professional.

“We don’t want to draw matches and to have to think we have to win the next one.

“We have to win every game.”
