Emotional start at Portman Road

26 September 2009 17:57
AN emotional occasion at Portman Road started with thousands of fans singing along with a touching pre-match rendition of Abide With Me to remember Sir Bobby Robson. Robsons wife, Lady Elsie, and their two sons, Mark and Paul, are also inside the packed ground to see the two clubs closest to his heart go head-to-head in the Championship. Newcastle United are without Danny Simpson, who suffered an injury in training, and that means Zurab Khizanishvili makes his first league start for the Magpies after arriving on loan from Blackburn. Another of Chris Hughtons loan signings, Marlon Harewood, makes the bench, while Ipswich include former Sunderland pair Grant Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards in their starting line-up. IPSWICH TOWN (4-5-1): Wright; Rosenior, Bruce, Balkestein, Delaney; Walters, Colback, Trotter, Leadbitter, Edwards; Priskin. Subs: Lee-Barrett, Martin, Counago, Peters, Stead, Quinn, Smith. NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-4-2): Harper; Khizanishvili, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; R Taylor, Butt, Smith, Nolan; Ranger, Carroll. Subs: Krul, Harewood, Lovenkrands, Baheng, Tozer, Donaldson, Vuckic.
