JONAS GUTIERREZ and Danny Simpson will be the only Newcastle players not involved in the club's opening pre-season fixture at Carlisle United.[LNB] The Magpies travel to Brunton Park on Saturday, and manager Chris Hughton has pledged to name a strong side following a successful six-day training camp in Ireland.[LNB] Gutierrez did not travel to Dublin as he been given an extended break to recover from his World Cup exertions with Argentina.[LNB] Simpson was similarly absent, as an ankle injury will prevent him featuring in the opening weeks of the Premier League season.[LNB] However, the rest of the Newcastle squad are now more than a week into their pre-season programme, and Hughton expects most to be involved on Saturday.[LNB] The lads were superb over in Ireland and I felt it was another very productive week over there, said Hughton, who dismissed recent speculation linking him with Romanian striker Andrei Cristea and Sporting Lisbon forward Yannick Djalo.[LNB] This first friendly is all about getting back into our rhythm and building up our fitness, but you know when you go to somewhere like Carlisle it will be a very competitive friendly too.[LNB] I will be getting everyone bar Jonas and Danny involved and it will be a good test to see where we are at the moment.[LNB] The priority is to get everyone through it unscathed and not to get any injuries.[LNB] At this stage you wouldn't expect us to be at full pelt, but we know there are going to be a lot of supporters travelling and it is a good game for us to get started.[LNB] Hughton is likely to hand James Perch a first appearance in a Newcastle shirt this weekend, and while the defender is the club's only summer signing as Dan Gosling's future remains on hold pending an Everton appeal against the end of his contract, more additions are anticipated.[LNB]
