A fee has been pre-agreed and United would have first option to buy if both the player and Newcastle want to make the deal permanent.
That is standard practice for Newcastle with every loan deal they negotiate and would put United in pole position in the summer – although it would not be a guarantee the deal would be done.
Remy snubbed Newcastle last January when QPR offered him more money, and let's understand he is not a man strong on priciple.
Mike Ashley offered him a private plane to fly him to London from France to meet up with Newcastle officials to do the deal ... and Remy arrived in London and legged it to Loftus Road!
The player also insists he wants to return to the Champions League, so don't hold out too much faith in this "pre-agreed fee" should he have a good season and the likes of Chelsea or Arsenal come calling.
He loves London, and made it known last season he wants to set up home in the capital.
