Di Matteo still looking to strengthen

West Brom head coach Roberto Di Matteo is looking to further bolster his ranks before Saturday's season opener against Newcastle. Di Matteo, who was appointed at the end of June, has already brought Simon Cox and Reuben Reid to The Hawthorns and has managed to so far keep hold of the majority of the squad that suffered relegation from the Premier League. But he wants more new faces before the club begin their assault on a third top-flight promotion in six years against a troubled Magpies outfit. He told the club's official website: "We hope to make some additions to the squad this week. We will make any announcements as and when we've agreed terms with clubs and players. "Like with Reuben, we're looking to bring in something we don't already have here. We don't want too many players with the same characteristics and ability, so that's what we're looking for."
