The Swansea boss was pleased with a much-needed win secured with first-choice forwards Michu and Wilfried Bony out injured.
Michael Laudrup: "We played some very good football without a striker.
"We had to play with two offensive midfielders.
"Newcastle have had a fantastic run and had consecutive wins - it was 3-0 today and playing like that everyone can be pleased."
Laudrup also claimed there was no contact in the Shelvey head-butt incident, adding: "I've seen it. They're there but no contact.
"Mathieu Debuchy didn't move, he didn't make a meal of it.
"I know Jonjo and he's not trying to hurt anyone. He's passionate to the limit."
