Crisis club Newcastle confirm Shearer as manager until end of season

Newcastle United have released a statement on the club's official website, confirming that Alan Shearer will take over at St James' Park for the final eight games of the season. [LNB]The club's top scorer was sensationally installed as the man to save the club from relegation from the Barclays Premier League, taking charge of his first game against Chelsea on Saturday.[LNB]Returning hero: Shearer[LNB]The statement reads as follows: [LNB]'Newcastle United can confirm that Alan Shearer will return to the Club as manager for the final eight games of the season.[LNB]The Magpies' all-time record goalscorer takes charge of first team affairs at St. James' Park with immediate effect. Iain Dowie will assist Alan, with Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood continuing in their coaching roles.[LNB]The Club have made the appointments while Joe Kinnear continues to recover at home having recently underwent heart surgery.[LNB]Managing Director Derek Llambias said: 'Everyone at Newcastle United is absolutely delighted that Alan has taken on this challenge.[LNB]'Already there is a buzz around the Club and the city.
