Coloccini returns for Newcastle at Cardiff

13 September 2009 13:29
FABRICIO Coloccini returns to Newcastle's starting line-up for this afternoon's televised clash at Cardiff City. Coloccini missed last month's 1-0 win over Leicester City, but the Argentine is back in Chris Hughton's XI at the newly-built Cardiff City Stadium. Coloccini's return enables Danny Simpson to revert to his preferred position of right-back. In the absence of the injured Shola Ameobi and Andy Carroll, Nile Ranger will continue as a lone striker, with Danny Guthrie playing in the hole between midfield and attack. CARDIFF (4-4-2): Marshall; Quinn, Hudson, Gerrard, Capaldi; Whittingham, Ledley, Rae, Burke; Bothroyd, Chopra. Subs: Enckelman, Kennedy, Gyepes, McPhail, Etuhu, Taiwo, Matthews. NEWCASTLE (4-4-1-1): Harper; Simpson, Coloccini, S Taylor, Enrique; R Taylor, Barton, Smith, Nolan; Guthrie; Ranger. Subs: Krul, Lovenkrands, Geremi, Butt, Lua Lua, Kadar, Donaldson. ** READ A FULL REPORT AND ANALYSIS IN TOMORROW'S NORTHERN ECHO **
