Alan Pardew confirmed on Monday that Coloccini is out of the Sunderland game and the club have now given him permission to return to his homeland while he recovers.
Coloccini became unsettled towards the end of last year and was angling for a move to a club in Argentina but Pardew convinced him to stay at St James' Park.
However this latest injury and subsequent return to Argentina has many wondering if he will soon be pushing for a move again ahead of the January window.
