Cisse - 'I Play Best As Striker'

01 January 2013 12:19
Papiss Demba Cisse has vowed to get back to his best this year.

Papiss Demba: “I have never lost any confidence.

“I know sometimes life can be difficult, but I know that in 2013 I will be the Papiss that I have been before.

“It was my dream to come to Newcastle. I came here to learn very important things in football, and I know that next year I will be much better.

“I’m very conscious about the fact I need to work hard. The team believe in me, and the supporters do as well.

“I know that because during difficult times I wasn’t playing like I was before, but the supporters, and the people who are my fans, have never let me down.

“They have tried to push me and tried to encourage me.

“I will be the same Papiss that I was when I come here. That is what I am hoping for.

“I have played this position before in all my time playing in football.

“The manager has shown me how to do this job.

“It’s difficult, but I’m doing my best to answer the questions asked of me by the manager.

“My best position is a striker and to be there to score the goals. But when the team is in a position like they are now, with many injuries, I work for the team.

“I came here to work for the manager, and give my best for the club, because I love the club and I love the city.

“The players here are very friendly, and there is a lot of love. We play here, and we have a job to do.

“Everything is fine. The position I’m playing in now is not my favourite, but I understand the team now has a problem.

“I have to give my best because that’s what the manager asks of me.

“It’s not a problem because I’m still giving something to the team.

“The best thing is that we’re still scoring goals. This makes us confident.”
