Cisse - 'I Always Keep My Concentration'

Papiss Cisse struck deep in injury time at St James's Park last night to give the club a 1-0 aggregate win over 10-man Anzhi Makhachkala.

Papiss Cisse: “I’m so happy – we’ve won again, and I’ve scored again.

“It was very important, probably the most important yet.

“But for me the most important thing is that the team wins and goes through.

“The striker must always keep his concentration – the tie wasn’t finished, and the game was still alive.

“The game wasn’t finished. Only when the ref blows, it’s over – so I knew we still had time. I always felt we could still score in normal time.

“I saw Sylvain and knew he had one last ball in him. He put in a perfect ball for me, and luckily I scored.

“I had just one chance, and I scored it. Sometimes they fall better for you, sometimes they are difficult to come by, but that’s football.

“I’m a little tired, but the goal will help me rest.

“Ten goals is great, but I’ll be trying for more.

“The season is not finished.

“My job is to score goals and the team’s job is to win. This is my job.”
