Chris Hughton's sacked: Alan Shearer would consider Newcastle return

Alan Shearer has revealed his disappointment over Chris Hughton's sacking at Newcastle - but hinted that he would take the job. [LNB]The Toon legend took charge of the club at the end of the 2008-9 season but was unable to keep them in the Barclays Premier League. [LNB]He added: 'Despite what happened [at Newcastle] I loved it and if something was to arise again I would seriously look at it.' [LNB]Meanwhile, Newscatle's players lined up to pay tribute to Hughton - popular in the dressing room - after his dismissal. [LNB]On Twitter, Jonas Gutierrez wrote: 'Thank you Chris Hughton for believing in us when nobody believed in us.' [LNB]Team-mate Danny Simpson simply wrote: 'Shocked[LNB]Former Newcastle midfielder Rob Lee was also stunned to learn the news. He said: 'I'm amazed. It's totally unjust if you consider what he did for the club.[LNB] 'He got them back where they belong in the Premiership when they were on their knees. There must have been something going on we didn't know about because why wasn't he just given a contract. This will upset the fans - I'm sure there will be uproar.'
