Carver Not Setting His Aims Too High

Newcastle assistant boss John Carver says the atmosphere is good at the club. John Carver: "We know how difficult it is to stay in this division. “Let’s be realistic, the target still is survival. “Anything can happen but you have to take care of yourselves first. “There are 16 games to go and a lot at stake. “We just have to focus on ourselves and not be worrying about anybody else. “That’s the good thing about this, we’re focused on things. “The one thing I noticed when I stepped through the door was what a great atmosphere there was between the players and the staff.  “When you have that huge disappointment of being relegated, bouncing back as quickly and effectively as they did is going to carry momentum. “And it has done that. “Alan has come in and done a great job so far and has built his staff. “There’s still a lot of the staff that were here previously, but now we have to take the club forward. “The one thing that has stuck out was the atmosphere, though, and that’s going to be huge.”
