Newcastle were today assessing the damage to Andy Carroll's ankle ahead of Saturday's potentially decisive promotion clash with Peterborough United. A game Andy Carroll insists he wants to play a part in. The England Under-21 striker picked up a first-half ankle injury and failed to run it off at the start of the second half following some treatment at the interval. Chris Hughton: “He’s just rocked his ankle. He’s done that in the past, and he has recovered, so I don’t expect it to be too serious. “We’ll assess that one this week. “At this moment, I don’t know about Peterborough. “It was such a big game, and you try and play the game down beforehand. “At the end of the day it’s still three points. “We got three points at Doncaster, and were they any more important? “Well, because of how good Forest are, they were three big points for us. “They gave us a real fright and made it very, very difficult for us, but we always felt it would be difficult for them to sustain the tempo they had in closing us down for 90 minutes.”
