Carroll Replacement A Priority!

Alan Pardew last week snapped up Lille midfielder Yohan Cabaye and is hopeful of completing a swoop for Swansea left-back Neil Taylor next week. But a striker has always been priority. Pardew´s efforts are continuing to boost the squad with a replacement for striker Andy Carroll. Newcastle have held an interest in West Ham's Demba Ba for some time and having missed out on Lorient frontman Kevin Gameiro when he opted to sign instead for Paris St Germain, are considering their options on that front. Alan Pardew: "Things are definitely moving on now and we expect to be busier between now and the start of the season. "We are working very hard on one or two players and we hope to announce something soon. "We should be able to announce a second signing, I would think, in the next 10 days. "We aren't going to rule ourselves out of any situation. "We want quality players at this football club so if the players are out there and we think we've got a chance, we'll try our very best. "Some players who we bid for might want Champions League football so they'll be going there, others will be prepared to come to us because of the magnificent fan base and the history here too. "I think the likes of Everton, Sunderland and Bolton are the competitors that we have in this window, but we've got a chance because of the Andy Carroll money."
