Carroll Or Davies - Who Won The Battle?

21 November 2010 12:03
A lot was made in the build up to the game with many reporters suggesting Bolton v the Toon would be the battle of the "new England strikers" Kevin Davies and Andy Carroll. No-one can doubt the scoreline, but what about the two players? Davies scored two from the spot, and Carroll scored from open play. Davies was a shock inclusion to the England squad, becoming the oldest debutant since Roman times! Hardly a player for the future. But the Bolton skipper believes his side has taken over the Toon tag "The Entertainers". Kevin Davies: "It's going well - I think the Reebok is the place to be for entertainment at the minute. "We played a very good Newcastle side who have gone away and beat Arsenal so I think it's a fantastic performance from the boys and a great win for us. "I've taken a few penalties now and feel a lot more confident with it. "I thought it was a good game, played in the right way. Like I said, we played some great football at times and I think it was a fair result. "I'm not over-complimenting the result - I felt we deserved the five goals and probably could have scored a few more." .
