ANDY CARROLL has been passed fit to start up front alongside Shola Ameobi for Newcastle United's match at Bolton this afternoon.[LNB] The Magpies striker made his England debut in midweek, but there were concerns that his run out would have aggravated a groin complaint.[LNB] However, Carroll has been cleared to face Bolton, while Ameobi has also been thrust back in to the starting line-up after recovering from injury.[LNB] In the absence of suspended pair Joey Barton and Cheik Tiote, manager Chris Hughton has given an opportunity to Alan Smith and Danny Guthrie as Newcastle look to improve on last Saturday's draw with Fulham and a defeat to Blackburn a few days earlier.[LNB] Bolton: Jaaskelainen; Ricketts, Cahill, Knight, Robinson; Lee, Muamba, Holden, Taylor, Elmander; Davies. Subs: Bodgan (gk), Steinsson, Petrov, M Davies, Klasnic, Rodrigo, Blake. [LNB] Newcastle: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Enrique; Guthrie, Nolan, Smith, Gutierrez; Ameobi, Carroll. Subs: Campbell, Routledge, Lovenkrands, Taylor, Perch, Ranger, Soderberg (gk).[LNB]
