Campbell Set To Go?

Sol Campbell will soon be on his way because he wants more games and the veteran defender is understood to be unhappy at both his lack of match time and the treatment of Chris Hughton. The excuses are coming thick and fast as to why he was not included in the squad for the supposed visit to St Andrews when the game was called off, and his "illness" before the Man City game. He is finding it a struggle to get back in the team because Alan Pardew is far from happy with Campbell's attitude and lack of fitness. The defender didn't train at all during the summer prior to his move to St James' Park, missing pre-season training and looking like a beached wale in training. He may have convinced Hughton he had the right attitude, but we believe Pardew cannot wait to get him out of the club because of his doom-and-gloom attitude. Despite a parting of the ways looking increasingly likely ... Pardew remains diplomatic. He said: “It is difficult with Sol because he is not very well so we have not really had those discussions. “Would I like to keep him? That is a discussion for me and Sol to have privately more than publicly.” Reading between the lines: "I cannot wait to get rid of him!"
