Madjid Bougherra has revealed that he would snub Newcastle if they were to renew their interest in him in the summer.[LNB] The Rangers defender only arrived at Ibrox last summer but his performances for Walter Smith's men reportedly prompted the Magpies to show their interest in January.[LNB]The former Charlton ace insists that he is more than happy at the club and is not interested in doubling his wages with a move to St James' Park.[LNB]But despite his desire to remain at Rangers, the club may be forced to sell the 26-year-old in a bid to ease their financial worries.[LNB]"I could make twice as much money at Newcastle," he said. "Rangers don't pay me much more than I was on at Charlton.[LNB]"I am not among their best-paid players, I am someone who has joined them from a Championship club.[LNB]"But in sporting terms, I am at a big club and I am happy with what I have, as it enables me to live well and look after my family.[LNB]"My heart is with Rangers and I want another season at the very least here. I've climbed the ladder from Gueugnon and Crewe.[LNB]Illogical"It would be illogical to leave Rangers for a club struggling to stay up knowing I could play Champions League football next season or at worst be in the Europa League." [LNB]During his short time in Scotland, Bougherra has become something of a fans' favourite softening the blow of losing Carlos Cuellar to Aston Villa in the summer and he admitted that fans had even begged him to stay during the transfer window.[LNB]"People recognise me whenever I go to the shops and, during the last transfer window, the Rangers fans pleaded with me not to leave," he added.[LNB]"I was surprised they begged me to stay, as I had only been at the club for five months. [LNB]"But they said they loved me as I had replaced a player they considered irreplaceable in Cuellar.[LNB]"Carlos had been voted player of the year last season but was then transferred to Aston Villa. The fans were unhappy, he was their idol and they didn't think anyone could replace them."[LNB]
