Bougherra commited to Gers

Madjid Bougherra claims to be 100 per cent certain he will be a Rangers player next season. The centre-half helped the Gers to the Scottish Premier League title on Sunday, with Walter Smith's men pipping Old Firm rivals Celtic to the crown courtesy of a 3-0 win at Dundee United on the final day. That success, which will bring UEFA Champions League football to Ibrox in 2009/10, has persuaded Bougherra that his ambition can be matched in Glasgow. He had recently been linked with Marseille and Newcastle, but insists he has no intention of moving on this summer. He said: "For a player like me, I had never won anything and this is a dream for me. "I will say it again, 100 per cent I will stay next season. When you see the fans behind you and know they like you, you can't move. It's impossible." FinancesEuropean football will help to bring some much-needed stability to Rangers' financial woes, and could prevent a mass exodus of top talent. Bougherra certainly hopes that proves to be the case, with the Algerian of the opinion that Smith's side can only get stronger next term. "I think with these finances, we can keep our players and bring new players. It's fantastic for the club to prepare for next season," he added. Meanwhile, Bougherra's partner at the heart of the Rangers defence, David Weir, has revealed that he hopes to continue playing next season despite having recently celebrated his 39th birthday. "It's not for me to decide but I hope so," he said.
