Beye sympathy for Toon faithful

Newcastle defender Habib Beye has admitted the club's fans do not deserve the turmoil they are being put through. Around 3,500 supporters made the short trip to Darlington for a 7-2 friendly victory on Saturday and they are certain to travel in their numbers to Huddersfield tomorrow night and Leyton Orient at the weekend. Senegal international Beye has publicly declared his desire to leave St James' Park, with Greek side Panathinaikos reportedly on his trail, but he is calling for a quick resolution for the sake of the fans. He said: "The fans were brilliant at Darlington. I feel for them because they deserve better, much, much better. They need to know what the future is at this club, and it must be terribly hard for them. "The fans were better than us last season. But it's important to have a good relationship between the fans and the players. "We will always try to communicate with them. They are brilliant."
