Beye backing for Shearer

Habib Beye insists Alan Shearer has had a positive impact at Newcastle since his arrival.[LNB] Senegal defender Beye believes Shearer will save the club from suffering relegation from the Premier League.[LNB]Beye has been hugely impressed with Shearer during his first few weeks at the helm and he believes the former Magpies skipper will inspire an upturn in fortunes for the final five games of the season.[LNB]"Alan has had a big impact, and you can see that in the team," said Beye.[LNB]"He's a winner. His mentality is like that and I think he brings that to the team.[LNB]Spirit"We have more spirit - Alan has tried to give that to the team.[LNB]"Everyone believes we can be safe. There are 15 points to get, and it's not finished.[LNB]"He's from this area and knows Newcastle better than anyone. He doesn't want to see his club go to the Championship.[LNB]"That's why he tries his best every day for the team, and why we try to give our best."[LNB]Newcastle have only picked up one point under Shearer's stewardship following their recent defeat to Tottenham, but Beye is confident they can pick up a crucial three points in Monday's home clash with Portsmouth.[LNB]"We were disappointed to come back to Newcastle without any points [from Spurs], but that game is over now," added Beye.[LNB]"We have to get three points against Portsmouth - I think we will do it."[LNB]
