Best Stays Clear Of 'Twitter'
Leon Best says he READS Twitter, but won't be drawn into the controversy that has landed Jose Enrique and Joey Barton into trouble with Mike Ashley. Leon Best: "Of course I want to stay at Newcastle, I have always said that. “Definitely. I went to see the manager as soon as I got back from holiday.“He told me that what was in the papers wasn’t anything to do with him or the club. There was a lot of stuff out there, but it was just paper talk.“I know what I have to do. I just need to get match-fit and stay injury-free.“Nothing’s changed – new strikers will come in, and that’s healthy competition.“Successful teams have strikers fighting for a place. Scoring at St James’s Park’s a great buzz, and I hope to continue that this season.“When I do see things in the paper that I know aren’t true, I just think of the feedback from the fans.“It is unbelievable. Simmo (Danny Simpson) and Jose (Enrique) tell me what people are saying on Twitter, and I can look for myself on the internet.“It just makes me try even harder on the pitch. Knowing that the fans want me to have another chance is what I need.“With what happened last season I think I deserve one from my own personal view.“Twitter’s a strong tool, but growing up I always said the wrong things, so I’ll stay away from it. I’ll leave that for the other lads.”
