Ben Arfa Injury (Or Court Appearance?)

Hatem Ben Arfa, who wasn't even on the bench at the Liberty Stadium, has been ...

... banned from driving for six months and fined £2,680 after admitting driving offences.

The 26-year-old’s Mercedes car was caught speeding on two occasions last November.

Alan Pardew said Ben Arfa was missing from the squad in Swansea "because of an injury".

Although the midfielder was not driving on either occasion, he failed to give legally-required information identifying the driver on one occasion, and was late supplying it on the other.

Michelle Brown, defending Ben Arfa at Bedlington Magistrates’ Court: “His written English is poor.

“He was going back and forth from the UK and spending the majority of the time in France.

“He was not driving himself around at that time because he was undergoing treatment.

“He always attends the court hearings to show that he takes the matters seriously. I ask the court accepts his genuine apology.”

Ben Arfa, of Darras Road, Ponteland, pleased guilty to two counts of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver who is alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Chairman of the bench, Margaret Sewell: “You are disqualified from driving for six months.

“If you drive whilst disqualified you will commit a serious offence and you may be sent to prison and disqualified again.”

Ben Arfa was given six penalty points for each offence, resulting in the disqualification.

He was ordered to pay £900 for each offence, £700 in court costs and £180 victim surcharge.
