“I was shocked in 2008. It probably took me a season to get over it.
“I will respect the coach’s decision even if it does not go my way.
“All I can do is try my best and hope he takes me to the championships.”
Blanc has offered Ben Arfa encouragement ahead of the squad announcement and said: “I think Ben Arfa’s reached a new level.”
