Seeing red: Stoke City's James Beattie vents his anger at the officials after a clash with Sebastien Bassong. Stoke striker James Beattie has accused Newcastle's Sebastien Bassong over the clash that left him needing 12 stitches in a head wound. The Frenchman was booked by referee Chris Foy for a flailing arm that caught Beattie, who said: 'I thought he did it on purpose. Hopefully, it won't stop me playing. I'll have a word with the physio and he'll probably have me wearing a mask or something stupid.' The FA are investigating an incident in which a drinks can was thrown at Newcastle's Ryan Taylor in the first half. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace defender Claude Davis has been banned for three matches for elbowing Cardiff defender Roger Johnson, which went unpunished by the referee. The Cardiff defender spent two nights in hospital and his chairman, Peter Ridsdale, asked the FA to review it. Johnson said: 'It's clear for everyone to see what went on and it's clear in my eyes. I'm disappointed with the player.' Villa keeper Stuart Taylor has extended his loan at Cardiff until May 31, making him eligible for the play-offs.
