Barton Set For Next Run-Out
Newcastle United are looking into the possibility of another behind-closed-doors friendly to boost the chances of getting Joey Barton back to full fitness. Barton, recovering from a foot injury, played 75 minutes of Newcastle’s 2-0 loss to Hartlepool in the reserve team last Tuesday, but United’s next scheduled second-string game is not until March 30 when Middlesbrough are the visitors to Whitley Park. Chris Hughton is still reluctant to name a Championship game for Barton's return, knowing he cannot afford to rush him back too soon.
