Barton Not Impressed With £20m Super Kid!

Joey Barton has questioned the motives behind the decision to hand Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha a maiden call-up to the senior England squad.

Joey Barton: "Not a fan of the latest craze, giving caps out so as players don't go and play for other countries. Doesn't sit well with me that....

"I'm not on about Sterling, I'm on about Zaha. Not played in the Prem yet. Nolan scored more Prem goals, yet don't get a look in? Baffles me."

"Osman [has been a] good player in the last few years. But he's 32 and isn't gonna improve an average side. If they're giving out charity caps, all I am saying is, Nolan should have had a call up years ago.

"As for me, well that's something entirely different. Let's not go there."

How good is Zaha?

Crystal Palace starlet Wilfried Zaha is worth more than £20 million according to the club's co-director Steve Parish, who is looking to hold on the the forward amid a flurry of interest from England's top clubs.

Both Liverpool and Manchester City are weighing up bids for the youngster with Arsenal also tracking the teenager.

Parish: "[Zaha] is an extraordinary talent.

"I said at the start of the season that keeping hold of Wilf would be like spending a lot of money on a transfer.

"Other sides can fly their kites but it would take £20 million before we even got interested.

"He has got the lot, provided he keeps his feet on the ground and continues working so hard on his game - then it will all come.

"People would have to compensate us accordingly for losing [Zaha's] talent - that is what a transfer fee is.

"All the teams have got to understand that you get £60m in TV money if you get into the Premier League, which is where we want to get.

"So we'd need to be compensated for reducing our chances of getting there."
