Gareth Barry's £6.7million a year Manchester City payday puts the 28-year-old among the Premier League's big earners. The midfielder will earn £130,000-a-week following his £12m move from Aston Villa - just £14,000 less than the average house price in the north-west. Barry's new pay packet will be nearly six times that of the average top flight footballer, who earns £23,000 a week (£1.2m a year) before tax. Gareth Barry is now among the Premier League's biggest earners following his move to Manchester City This wage packet dwarfs that of a Championship player, who can expect £4,500 for seven days' work (£230,000 a year) on average. Premier League spending on wages has never been higher, according to figures published today by Deloitte.
