Ashley Will Always Treat NUFC As A Business!

Fans reacted angrily to Mike Ashley's announcement the naming rights for St James' Park would be put up for sale with the ground named Sports Direct Arena until a sponsor was found.

Ashley said it could bring an extra £10m into the club for player transfers ... although we still haven't seen how the £35m we got for Andy Carroll was spent.

It's Ashley's love of money that puts doubts in the minds of the Newcastle fans. Is there anything he WON'T do to make a few quid?

Last night Mr Llambias defended the decision to rename St James’ Park and said he was acting in the best interest of the club to boost revenue streams.

Llambias: “We are not disrespectful of the history and the tradition.

"It’s Newcastle United and we don’t own the soul and spirit and we are not being stubborn over the naming rights of the ground.

“We are trying to maximise our income streams and the naming rights could be another Yohan Cabaye or Cheick Tiote each year.

“It’s a long-term plan we have and we are not doing it to antagonise the fans. It’s for the benefit of fans and supporters.”
