Ashley Wants Fans To Know Agents Figures!
Mike Ashley is keeping a very low profile these days ... but every now and again he drops us a clue as to the pressures of being a club owner. With Steven Taylor's agent, once again, allegedly trying to get his client to move clubs (so he can make himself a personal fortune) the battle for Taylor's signature continues. Ashley has broken his wages cap of £40,000 per week (on new contracts) just to try and keep the defender at St James' Park ... but at the same time he has announced what Newcastle Utd paid agents during 2009/10 On the official club website the figures are: "Total amount paid to agents in the period 1 October 2009 to 30 September 2010: £2,417,776. "Explanatory Note: The amount shown is the aggregate of all payments made to agents during the reporting period for agency activity, including payments made by the club on behalf of players." So there you have it - the parasites picked up almost £2.5m.
