Ashley To Make Coloccini Stand!

23 November 2013 13:43
Fabricio Coloccini says he wants to return to Argentina "as soon as possible" ... but he wants a FREE TRANSFER!

The Newcastle United skipper wants a move to San Lorenzo in January, but having laid his own foundations for a transfer, says the club "cannot afford" to buy him!

And Mike Ashley has already made it known - Coloccini is under contract and if he goes - he goes for a price!

Coloccini is a huge fan of the Argentine club and United refused to let him leave Tyneside on a free transfer earlier this year.

Coloccini: “You never know what can happen in football.

“In January we did all we could for a possible return to San Lorenzo, but I always made it clear that Newcastle would have the last word.

“The club have invested a lot in me and I must show respect towards them.

“I have to speak the truth, though, and I would like to return as soon as possible.

“A lot of Newcastle fans stopped me in the street here and said, ‘Colo, thank you for everything and your five years here, but whatever your best choice for your family is we will be happy’.

“It was really nice to hear that. I spent four years here already and this will be my fifth.

“The club will get 100% from me and the fans recognise that.

“So to me that is very special and I thank them.

“Some fans may say, ‘I don’t care about your problem you should be here because we need you’.

“That is also true as well.

“I can understand that as well.

“We are in a difficult position and things aren’t the way we expected them to be at the start of the season.

“I can understand people’s point of view.

“Sometimes people think the player doesn’t care and that the shirt will always be more important than the player.

“So I can understand. The fans have to be sure that when I go on the pitch that I always try to give a thank you to those who support me and those who give me the opportunity to be here in the Premier League.”

MAGPIES IN EUROPE -

HARVEY TO PARDEW

The new version of "Magpies In Europe" is available NOW.

Although NUFC are not talking to the Chronicle or Sunday Sun ... we are!

And the full story is expected to be in newspapers this week.

The official new title is "Magpies In Europe - Harvey To Pardew" and is an up-dated version of "From Antwerp To Zurich" - which includes the 14 Europa League fixtures we played last season.

The 280-page book features match reports from the 134 European matches Newcastle United have played, starting with the memorable 4-0 win over Feyenoord in 1968 on our European debut.

Included are stats and the figures you would expect, but also each away fixture has the remarkable experiences of individuals who travelled to watch the matches.

Introduction by "Big Bad" John McNamee, part of the Fairs Cup winning team of 1969.

It is a fascinating history that every Newcastle United fan will enjoy.

And with a limited print-run, make sure you order a copy.
