Anita Key To Swede Joining Newcastle?

12 November 2013 16:27
With Shola Ameobi nearing the end of his contract, Alan Pardew is looking to sign another striker.

Newcastle United are likely to be offered the chance to sign PSV Eindhoven contract rebel Ola Toivonen.

Sources in Holland say Toivonen’s representatives have a plan of action in place should he not agree a new deal with PSV – and Newcastle are on a list of possible suitors.

The Swede shares the same representative as Vurnon Anita, super agent Mino Raiola, who also boasts Zlatan Ibrahimovic on his list of clients, and the Monaco-based Italian could turn to the Premier League in January if Toivonen cannot agree a new deal with PSV.

Who knows, Anita could be the man to give him advice on a move to Tyneside.

Whether Newcastle are prepared to cough up his wages is also up for debate.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder will be available for a knockdown fee in January, and with Alan Pardew admitting in the summer he was eager to add another “offensive” player, a new striker could be at the top of Newcastle’s new year shopping list.
