And A Word From The Next Newcastle Manager ...

Will we stay up? The next Newcastle United manager is confident the Toon will be okay in this season's Premier League. Huddersfield boss Lee Clark was part of the last Toon team to win promotion to the top flight. Lee Clark: “The league is nothing like it was back then. Everything has changed and I’m not sure what we did will ever be done again. “I’m not saying it was an easy league in 1992 – we had to be very good to finish where we did in those early years – but the top six or seven is sewn up already now. “You can’t just go into the Premier League now and say ‘We’re coming for you’. It doesn’t work like that any more because there is serious money floating about and Newcastle probably think they have to build steadily. “The buying power of those clubs is just phenomenal and Newcastle, as has been well-documented this summer, are not buying like they did any more. “The owner is going a different route and maybe that is just a sign of the times. “I think you do anything you can to win games and the Premier League is a tough league. If that means playing in a certain way, so be it. “That first season back up is about winning matches and getting the points on the board and however you do that is up to you. “Other clubs talk about getting through that first season and I think Newcastle are no different. That is vital. “The one thing that Newcastle United don’t want to do is to become a ‘yo-yo’ club. And I honestly don’t think they will.”
